I know that some of you are going to say "I'd belt that!" Truth is, I'm not one for belting things and my friends are always trying to get me to do it. I like to joke with them about it. I say, "I know I have a small waist - so there's need to prove it!" However, if I were to belt this Ikat Spot Silk Dolman Sleeve Dress by Tegan, I think it would look sweet with a brown leather braided belt. Without a belt, I think it looks just fine too.
Tegan is a new brand on the scene and I fell in love with their retro-inspired lookbook. They offered to let me review one of these items and I chose this particular dress because I didn't have anything like it in my wardrobe. It's perfect: wonderfully slouchy but still looks "put together" at the same time. I can imagine that this would be a great day-to-night dress, as well. It looks great with ankle boots, court shoes, and sandals... It is definitely going to become one of my closet staples for spring/summer, so I'm sure you'll be seeing a myriad of different ways that I'd wear it in forthcoming posts.
This time, I paired it with my Nantucket basket purse, which my mom made for me about ten years ago. (You can read more about the bag and the others that she makes from an earlier post that I did here.) I was still deciding on the shoes at the time that I took the photos, which is why they don't make an appearance. (In the end, I went with ankle boots.)
