Many of my favorite fashion finds have been internet purchases. This is, in part, the result of living in fairly rural Scotland for three years. There are only three main streets in the village where I lived and shopping was extremely limited, especially if you don't want to walk around matching everyone else all of the time! Now that I am in London, of course, things are different. I'm amazed by all of the different possibilities, especially when it comes to vintage finds. I still search a lot for items on the internet though. It's an excellent way to find great deals on things, such as my newly purchased Missoni swimsuit for example. I found it on the Outnet for 75% off...way too good of a deal to pass up! It also love that I can shop more globally and be introduced to brands or designers that I might not come across otherwise.
Some of my other favorite internet finds are the beetle necklace from Atlantis Dry Goods, a Topshop hat, the letter that I received from Balthazar, and this gorgeous Igor and Andre print. Technically, this print was a Christmas gift from my sister, but I pointed her in its direction (ie. pretty much picked it out and begged her to buy it for me).
I was contacted about a week ago about Qrated, which is a new website that will be launching on June 15th. The premise of the website is rather brilliant: each day the website will feature a different fashion find, along with information about that particular designer and styling suggestions. The items will be from all over the world and the designers will be both well-known names and up and coming designers. Members will be able to purchase that particular item that day only, or until all of the available pieces are sold. While the website is not active yet, people are encouraged to pre-register. Those folks that pre-register through Facebook are entered into a competition to win an iPad 2...um, yes, please!
I am actually really excited about Qrated and I'm looking forward to seeing what types of items they have in store. I've never heard of a website like this and think it's a really fresh idea. What do you guys think? Are you going to join?
Hope you all had a great weekend! I have a few press days coming up this week that I'm pretty excited about. I'll be uploading most of those photographs to my Facebook page, so feel free to join in on the conversation there!
